About this Event

Pollinators in Geraldton will host Dr Ian Martinus Director, AustCyber Node Western Australia, Sam Allen, Cybersecurity Consultant, Edith Cowan University Cyber Check.Me and Keith Anthonisz, Principal Consultant, Future Systems along with ECU Students to provide a short presentation on cyber security awareness for small business in Geraldton including:

- The support of AustCyber for business as users of cyber security and as developers of technology.

- Cyber Security for small business.

- The potential for Geraldton to develop as a technology hub.

- ECU students perspective on cyber security needs of small business

There will also be an opportunity for informal networking and refreshments after the event.

Registration at 4 pm for a 4:20 pm start.

Dr Ian Martinus, Director, AustCyber Node Western Australia

Dr Ian Martinus is Director of the AustCyber Node for Western Australia at Edith Cowan University. Dr Martinus role is to support small to medium companies in Western Australia to contribute to the development of a vibrant and globally competitive cyber security sector. Dr Martinus will speak to AustCyber across Australia and how it can support industry to both adopt cybersecurity technology and to develop cyber technology as a sector in Australia.

Sam Allen, Cybersecurity Consultant, Edith Cowan University Cyber Check.Me

Sam Allen is a cybersecurity consultant with ECU's Cyber Check.Me initiative. Cyber Check.Me has been developed by the ECU Security Research Institute (ECUSRI) in partnership with the Cities of Wanneroo and Joondalup, North Metro TAFE and AustCyber. Sam's presentation will focus on basic cybersecurity principles that business can adopt to protect against possible cybercrime.

Keith Anthonisz, Principal Consultant, Future Systems

Keith Anthonisz is Principal Consultant, Future Systems and is also Manager with Incentives and Innovation at PwC in Perth and a Director of Malaysia Australia Connect. Keith provides economic and strategic advice to clients based on 30+ years’ experience in the Western Australian Government and in the private sector supporting economic development, technology development and infrastructure facilitation. Mr Anthonisz will speak to broader opportunities for Geraldton to develop as a Technology Hub.
