CYBER SAFETY Parent Workshop Subiaco

Kayelene is a WA Police Officer and Detective with over 16 years’ experience investigating child sexual and physical abuse, sexual assault and historical child sexual abuse complaints. As a result of her work with WA Police Kayelene is extremely passionate about the prevention of child sexual abuse through education and early intervention. In addition to teaching the Protective Behaviours program Kayelene is committed to ensuring our children and young people are taught to keep themselves safe in the online world. Kayelene facilitates school cyber safety education from pre-primary to Year 12 and delivers cyber safety workshops for parents and carers. Kayelene is the mother of two young boys and strongly believes a whole of community approach is required to address child sexual abuse.
This comprehensive workshop has been designed to help parents and carers teach their children how to safely navigate the online world.
An overview of the online world including current Australian statistics and trends, apps commonly used by children and young people and relevant age restrictions.
Specific information about online gaming, photo and video sharing, sexting/nudes, online grooming, pornography, inappropriate content and cyber bullying.
Information about protecting personal information online, digital footprint, digital reputation and the laws in Western Australia.
Information about parental controls and restrictions, balancing online time and establishing boundaries and expectations.
You will leave the workshop with practical strategies to help keep your children safe online.
