Event description
Join us for the fifth Culture Forum for 2020, which will tackle how our University community should approach culture and excellence.

About this Event

We often think of a good culture as caring, trusting and cooperative - one that connects us to our values, and breaks down barriers to collaboration. In what ways, though, is good culture a condition of excellence? How do values and identity fuel a high-performance culture? How do you make sure that culture and excellence go together?

Panelists Professor Céline Boehm (Head, School of Physics), Professor Maree Teesson AC (Director, Matilda Centre) and Dr Andrew Black (Director, Westmead Living Lab) join Professor  Tim Soutphommasane (Director, Culture Strategy) for a discussion about the lessons they’ve learned about building a cohesive, motivated culture driven towards academic and professional excellence.

The online discussion and Q&A will run from 1- 1:45pm, followed by the opportunity to join a breakout room for a small group discussion with other staff.

Our panelists:

Céline Boehm is an astroparticle physicist and Head of the School of Physics. Professor Boehm was previously Chair of Physics at the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology at Durham University, and has also worked at the Laboratoire d'Annecy-le-Vieux de Physique Théorique in France, CERN, and Oxford University.

Maree Teesson AC, FAAHMS, FASSA, is an Australian expert on mental health. She is the Director of The Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use and NHMRC Principal Research Fellow at the University of Sydney.

Andrew Black is Director of the Westmead Living Lab, and was previously Director of Research Development and Collaboration in the Research Portfolio. Andrew is a member of Science and Technology Australia’s policy advisory committee and on the research advisory committee for Local Government NSW.
