CULTURAL MINDFULNESS ONLINE TRAINING SERIES

Harness your emotional intelligence and equip yourself with important skills to support your clients. Presented by Community Resource Network's CEO Kittu Randhawa, this workshop series aims to empower you to work in closer partnership with the diverse communities you serve.

Workshop 1: 16 JUNE 2021

Dowry Abuse

An introduction to dowry and dowry abuse. You will learn how to recognise dowry abuse and develop key skills for assisting your clients.

Workshop 2: 28 JULY 2021

Working with South Asian Communities Part 1 - Culture

This workshop will assist you when working with clients from South Asian (Indian Subcontinent) heritage. Understand the frameworks that sustain the community as well as the social expectations that exist.

Workshop 3: 11 AUGUST 2021

Working with South Asian Communities Part 2 - Relationships

Building on Workshop 2, explore the construct of relationships within South Asian communities to provide you with context regarding family structures and the relationship dynamics that exist as traditional support networks in the community.

Workshop 4: 29 SEPTEMBER 2021

Honour Based Violence

Explore the concept of honour based violence and the complexity of such culturally specific abuse. Learn to understand the signs of HBV when working with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds. We explore gender roles and imbalances that can support these situations.

Workshop 5: 27 OCTOBER 2021

CALD Mental Health

Explore mental health from a CALD perspective and discuss why traditional counselling methods do not work for many clients from culturally diverse backgrounds.
