Born in the Republic of Mancunia and known to his brethren as Yemi The Cat, this two legged feline branded himself XS.if when he discovered the heavy beats of hip hop as a youngster. With his eclectic mix of tunes and an impressive vinyl collection in his lair, he loves to get the party started and share his infectious good vibes. Expect to hear everything from hip hop, funk and soul to Afrobeats, Latin, Nu-Disco and Electro-Swing – you’ll need some stamina to keep up with his amazing energy.
Starting as dj in early 90's. As a dj, playing great music in many years & in many places (Sydney, NYC, Tokyo, etc). Spins mainly Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae, Funk, Soul, Jazz, 80's, House, Party tunes, & etc. www.mixcloud.com/DJRISEMUSIC
It's Funky Disco that moves this funky soul and I am going to play it. A one to three hour all vinyl journey of select wax, through soul, funk, disco, Afro jazz funk beats, boogie funkin disco from all over the globe. I play a unique mix of 'Discoteque Eclectique' for your listening pleasure. Music in all forms will move you, the warmth from the uncompressed sound of vinyl makes me feel all warm and fuzzy in my soul, I hope it does the same to you while you're shaking your rump.
For the past 15 years, I have played at numerous venues around Sydney. A self confessed vinyl snob, I like the sound of surface noise, and the physical challenges I face when carrying a record bag load with 180g virgin vinyl. With my eclectic taste, a typical set may include mod jazz; garage psych; french go go; european film scores; pre Elvis rhythm and blues; vintage electro pop; Bollywood funk; and soul grooves.
Taking his cue from established luminaries including A-Trak, Joe Kay and DJ Screw, Saffron Mash spins a finely calibrated mix of future lushness, feel good throwbacks and emerging innovators across soul, funk, hip-hop and R’n’B. Check out his mixes at mixcloud.com/saffronmash or catch him at a club / winebar / warehouse party near you.
Henry Clark (a.k.a. Rob Campbell) is spinning music that is on point for creating that smooth bar atmosphere every weekend. The music is perfect for having a drink, moving your feet and feeling good about the life. His selections consist of Danceable Soul edits, Classic Disco and Vibey Hip-Hop. Finally there's a dash of House music and some contemporary hits that create the perfect cocktail for your weekend
Pill Spectre has collected records for years. He even remembers the era when people thought CDs were a fad...destined to go the way of BETAMAX and the 8-Track. Pill started played out in the turn of the century Shoreditch. In dive bars like Mother, Dragon Bar and the Electricity Showrooms. This was all to help feed the demands of a strictly vinyl habit. These days, Sydney-side, he’s been playing out at the likes of Grasshopper, Magazin, Fredas, 505 and, now, The Different Drummer. Pill Spectre has a wide ranging musical taste but expect an underlying, and never-dying, love of the bass.
