Event Details

Let's Make Games Inc., with the support of Screen Australia, is proud to present the guests of 2014 Perth Writers Festival special event series, The Game Changers, to #CTRLDEV, a professional game development chat.

CTRLDEV Flyer 500

#CTRLDEV is a professional game development chat with international industry leaders. Two panel discussions will focus on the technical and career aspects of working in the games industry, to complement the narrative and storytelling discussions of The Game Changers series at the 2014 Perth Writers Festival.

What: #CTRLDEV - A game development chat with industry leaders.
When: Sunday 23rd February, 2:30pm - 4:30pm
Where: Central Institute of Technology (East Perth), 140 Royal St., East Perth

Our guests are:

Clint Hocking (Canada – Far Cry 2, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory)
Jill Murray (Canada – Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag)
Dan Pinchbeck (UK – Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs)
Steve Gaynor (US – Bioshock Infinite, Gone Home)
Guy Gadney (Australia – Sherlock Holmes, The Suspect)

The panels will be divided into two sessions:

The Indie Session, all about getting an independent studio off the ground, and what it takes to make a game that can stand out with only a small number of developers.

The Studio Session, with discussions about finding jobs in a larger company, studio culture, and the production pipeline involved when working with internationally renowned and critically acclaimed franchises.

Both panel talks will have substantial time dedicated to Q&As from the audience, as well as a refreshments break in between.

When is it? The panels will start at 2:30pm on Sunday 23rd February. Doors will be opening at 2:15pm, and we'll start the event right on 2:30pm with or without you. So make sure to get there early!

Where is it? Lecture Theatre B202, Central Instutute of Technology (East Perth), 140 Royal Street, East Perth. Directly opposite the ABC building, parking is available on the street or around the back of the campus. The theatre is upstairs from the main foyer, you'll just need to follow the signs and friendly volunteers!

About tickets. This event has limited seating, and no tickets will be sold at the door. If you have tickets to any of the four sessions in the 2014 Perth Writers Festival The Game Changers series, you are eligible for a discounted #CTRLDEV ticket; please make sure to bring both your #CTRLDEV ticket and The Game Changers ticket stub or receipt with you on the day to verify you are eligible for the discount. If you forget/lose/don't have a The Game Changers stub or receipt at entry, you will be asked to cover the remaining cost for a General Admission ticket at the door. One discount ticketed per stub/receipt.

Networking. A networking session will be occuring directly after the #CTRLDEV event at the nearby Royal on the Waterfront. All guests and attendees are welcome to join!
