Event description

Description

The 2018 CSRI Leadership Forum 'Next Stage - New Page' will take place on 30-31 May 2018 in Canberra.

With Australia's rapidly ageing population posing a growing challenge to the policy community and financial services industry, the need for coordinated action is needed.

The statistics are stark. The numbers of Australians aged 65 and over are projected to more than double within 30 years, with one in two retirees requiring aged care. Amid growing anxiety among pre-retirees about a future with no financial plan, the need for both a policy framework and suitable solutions has never been greater.

The drive to make real progress toward increasing income security for older Australians will be the focus of the CSRI Leadership Forum.

Bringing together leaders in public policy, industry and academia, the forum will debate how to secure sustainable retirement incomes for all Australian with a specific focus on…

  • Development of trustee governance to better address members' retirement needs
  • Options for industry to better manage the trade-offs involved in designing retirement benefit products
  • How findings from the latest research into financial risks and challenges faced by retirees can inform governance and product design and
  • Identification of innovative solutions for delivering income now and when retirees need it.

Cocktail reception and dinner

To be hosted on 30 May 2018 at Hyatt Hotel Canberra, Grand Ballroom, featuring the 'Shake it Up" Panel and to be joined by Members of Parliament and Senior Ministerial Advisers.

Shake it Up!

Half the Australian population goes virtually unheard in the national conversation on super. Setting the scene for a new and refreshing perspective on retirement, this lively panel will provide an entertaining opening to the forum during the gala dinner.

Chief ABC economics correspondent, Emma Alberici will lead a conversation featuring media trailblazer, businesswoman and best-selling author Ita Buttrose, AO, OBE; leading public policy academic Professor
Miranda Stewart; and superannuation, self-managed super fund, and retirement planning expert Nerida Cole.

Panellists will offer a variety of perspectives – both personal and professional – and share their first-hand experiences in grappling with superannuation and retirement income decisions, in a system that was set up over a quarter of a century ago.

That's why you can't afford to miss the third annual CSRI Leadership Forum ' Next Stage - New Page' in Canberra, on 30-31 May 2018 as policy, academic, industry and community sector leaders chart the way forward.
