Learn the fundamentals of CrossFit with this Introduction Class designed for beginners at Hijacked HQ. This class will equip the new athlete with appropriate skills, technique and confidence to participate in CrossFit.

What to expect?

At CrossFit Hijacked we have an inspiring community that is derived from individuals wanting to achieve their best. To help you achieve your best this class is designed to make you comfortable with the standard functional movements such as deadlift, squat and press along with learning other movements like wallballs, kettlebell swings, and using equipment like the rowing machine and airdyne.

This one hour class is a low intensity induction into CrossFit and is structured as follows:

  • Warm Up
  • Learning functional movements (with broomstick)
  • A tour of the equipment and how to use
  • To conclude, a short WOD (workout of the day) performed at your ability

What to bring?

  • Drink bottle
  • Towel
  • Wear comfortable exercise attire and gym shoes
  • Your hi-five A-game!
  • Note: arrive 10 minutes early to complete waiver

The most important component of beginning CrossFit is following the charter of mechanics, consistency, and then intensity. CrossFit doesn't work to its potential unless you execute each one and understand how they are interrelated.

  1. Mechanics: refers to technique - your ability to move properly through the core movements. This is focused on moving in the most efficient, effective and safe manner.
  2. Consistency: This is making sure you are consistent with performing the mechanics as well as consistently doing CrossFit workouts. Too much too soon can lead to you severely hurting yourself. Luckily, the body adapts quickly, and before you know it, you will be hitting each workout with maximum personal intensity.
  3. Intensity: Intensity is relative to our physical and psychological tolerances. This is a process, and one that takes an indeterminate amount of time, so be patient. Elite-level athletes may be ready to ramp up their intensity in a couple of weeks, while de-conditioned athletes can take months or longer. The goal of CrossFit is to improve your fitness for life; no one ever got in shape overnight.
