Event description

Description

Come along and indulge yourself in a day devoted to crochet – a craft that will bring moments of calm to your everyday life.

Mindfulness is a state of being fully aware and immersed in the actions of the present moment. One way to practise mindfulness is to crochet. The rhythmic hand movement, textures, patterns and colours focus your mind in the moment to the project at hand.

In this class you will learn the stitches required to make a mandala. Mandalas, meaning “circles” in Sanskrit, are sacred symbols that are used for meditation, prayer, healing and art therapy for both adults and children. Creating mandalas have been shown in clinical studies to reduce stress and pain, lower blood pressure, promote sleep and ease depression. All the more reason to create a mandala using crochet!

Once you have learned the basics of crochet you’ll be hooked! You will be able to pick up your crochet project whenever you need to refocus your mind, to have some timeout, and to feel refreshed, energised or relaxed.

This class includes pattern, hook and yarn to get you started on your mandala.

Morning tea is included.
