Description

There is an increasing number of students in New Zealand applying for, and subsequently being accepted by the world's best universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Oxford, Cambridge and many more. Come along and listen to New Zealand's brightest talents, including students from Hamilton, share their insights on what makes the US and the UK such an attractive destination and how they got themselves there!

Speakers:

Soumil Singh (US Applications): Originally rom Hamilton East, Soumil upon graduating high school, had to narrow down his top choices to Harvard, Stanford or the University of Pennsylvania - rejecting four other Ivy League schools he was accepted into. He was also awarded a prestigious scholarship to Duke University in North Carolina. Soumil will be covering the US application process and what it takes to receive an offer from the top colleges in the US.

Caitlin Shepperson (UK Applications): Caitlin attended ACG Parnell and was accepted into Oxford to study Chemistry. She also received an offer from Caltech, the fifth best university in the world according to the QS World rankings. She will be covering the UK application process and what makes the UK such an attractive study destination.

Tessa Berger (Sports Scholarships): Athletes have a very different pathway on pursuing a degree at a top US institute and the requirements are also very different. Tessa, Crimson's head athletic consultant played and studied at Florida University and represented NZ in the women's world cup. She will be providing a comprehensive overview of what it takes to receive a scholarship, play sports and study at a top school in the US.

Jamie Beaton (Case Studies): Upon Graduating King's in 2012, Jamie completed 10 A levels with 8 A*'s and 2 A's as Dux of King's College. He scored top in the world in A Level English Literature and IGCSE English Literature, and Top in NZ in Business Studies. Jamie coined the term "Self study" after teaching himself 12 different NZQA Schol Exams and 5 of his A levels.
