Weekend August 3 & 4 (9:45am - 3:00pm both days)

Absorb yourself in a PD weekend about the arts & environmental sustainability

Enjoy this arts-focused professional development weekend event with a series of talks, exhibition tours and a creative workshop – all designed to inspire!


What you will get from the experience:

  • The chance to network with other art educators, curators, artists, colleagues from from Art Education Australia (AEA) and scientists

  • Guided exhibition tour of the 2019 Hadley’s Art Prize finalists’ exhibition

  • Meet artist Julie Gough at TMAG as she talks through her major new exhibition,Tense Past and learn about the public program for this exhibition

  • Enjoy a creative landscape art workshop with Jan Hogan, Tasmanian artist and Head of Art at UTAS

  • Panel discussions linking art, science and STEAM

  • Learn about some of the innovative, multidisciplinary projects by the Tasmanian Land Conservancy

  • Unique opportunity to explore an extensive collection of Patricia Piccinini’s artwork at Detached Artist Archive Hobart in The Old Mercury Building

  • Activity ideas and worksheets to use in the classroom

Lunch at Hadley’s Orient Hotel is included on both days.


Creativity and changing landscapesdraws expertise from First Nations perspectives, arts, education and industry experts to deliver a highly engaging, collaborative, interdisciplinary, professional learning event.

It will empower and equip teachers to further discuss and discover the importance of environmental sustainability from scientific, creative and cultural perspectives in their schools and communities.

Creativity and changing landscapeshas been designed to align with national education priorities to support teachers in their enactment of The Australian Curriculum (F-10) and work within senior secondary teaching and learning contexts.

This special event is proudly presented by Hadley’s Art Prize Hobart , Art Education Australia (AEA) in partnership with:
