Creative Landscapes – Shooting in the Field
Event Information
About this event
Do you want to excel at capturing landscape images with impact and feeling? Most enthusiast photographers enjoy the great outdoors whether in Australia or abroad but the landscape genre is one of the hardest to master.
Nick Melidonis is a triple ‘AIPP Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year’ and has spent a lifetime in the field crafting and capturing landscapes images with impact.
In this informative, interactive and fun session, he shares his experiences about how he goes about seeing and capturing landscapes in the field. This is the first segment of a two-part series on landscapes but is a stand- alone session. The second part outlines how Nick then works on his captured file to achieve his vision at the time of capture.
This informative session will include:
• The three ‘C’s of Landscapes
• What’s in the bag – options and equipment suggestions
• Choosing time and place for the best light
• Informed choices on composition
• Camera technique including assessing histograms, metering and making informed decisions on creative camera controls
• Getting a good file
• Depth of feeling before depth of field
• Tripod technique for steady shots and panoramas
• HDR in the field
• Fundamentals of good composition for seeing and capturing landscapes
