Event description

Description

Since the inception of our hub model in 2017, we have all been working hard to establish our hub teams across metropolitan Melbourne. It is now time to turn our collective attention to what makes a team highly effective.

This training day will assist all members of each hub's coordinating team to come together and share learnings that relate to team building in general, and your hub in particular.

Training Purpose:

In WDP we work in constantly changing teams:

  • at each dinner,

  • in our hubs,

  • and as part of a broader Victorian volunteer team.

This training will explore how we can create and maintain frameworks that manage this dynamic so that we can be the most effective WDP teams we can be and deliver constistently warm and welcoming dinners in our communities.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the training you will have:

  • Explored the dynamics of effective team development and operation

  • Developed shared understandings of how these areas apply to our work as part of our various WDP teams

  • Developed skills to communicate clearly and effectively with each other to deliver our welcome dinners.

  • Applied understandings and skills to WDP scenarios

Your Trainers:

Leta Chen and Frank Handy are generously returning to deliver another session for us, after a wonderful introduction to conflict resolution, delivered to WDP volunteers in 2017.

Both Frank and Leta operate businesses as conflict management practitioners and consultants. Both are nationally accredited mediators. Leta is also a registered psychologist and internationally accredited coach and in partnership with fellow Welcome Dinner Facilitator and Co-director, Sally Wiencke, runs a specialised workplace dispute resolution practice called Momentum – Changing Mindsets. Frank is Chair of the Independent Office for School Dispute Resolution, which deals with disputes between parents and schools in the Victorian State School system.
