Description

Creating a Culture of Possibility: Writing for the Page & Stage with Courtney Sina Meredith

At 21, without a book to her name and without any funding, Meredith began her own free writing and performance workshops in her hometown of Auckland, New Zealand. The premise was simple: to share what knowledge she had and to learn from the community around her. People came in drips and drabs, teenagers, teachers, emerging writers across genres. The poignancy of giving back was immense and in the ten years since, Meredith has taught writing and performance workshops and given lectures and guest talks from Malang to Berlin to London to Chicago.

How can you enliven text for performance while maintaining your unique voice? What does writing look like when you embed your practice within the world around you? How can you create a culture of possibility to propel your work forward?

Join Meredith for a two-part workshop series that will focus on writing poetry for the page and text for performance: spoken word and plays. Participants will walk away with a small portfolio of new writing, methods to maintain momentum and help with smashing both reader's writer's block.
