About this event

Abi Thompsons leads you in this creative and fun one-day workshop where you will use recycle metal and electrical wire to construct a free-standing sculpture. Students will have the opportunity to use a variety of techniques to assemble their sculpture, such as weaving, coiling, half hitch, and crochet.

Your tutor Abi Thompson has worked and lived in NE Victoria since her art career began in the '70s. She's known for her eclectic range of skills in textiles, soft sculpture, and painting. These have led her to experiment with recycled materials and combinations of disciplines, from wild hats to wearable art, from embroidery to drawing. Abi believes it's all about skills.

Morning tea and lunch are provided. Please advise any dietary requirements - contacts below.

The Create Narrandera program was made possible by grants from the Regional Renewal Strengthening Rural Communities Program ‘Small and Vital’ fund and donor partners the Bertalli Family Foundation and the Yulgilbar Foundation; and the Narrandera Shire Council’s Community Grant Program.

The NACNet team is pleased to also have obtained sponsorship from the Narrandera Branch of the Country Women's Association and the Narrandera Community (Bendigo) Bank to support the Create Narrandera program.
