Abi Thompson's fun and creative one-day workshop will have students constructing and weaving unique onto three-dimensional vessels (gourds). Students will use recycled and soft yarns such as rattan, cotton cord, and string for construction. In this workshop you will combine gourds with basketry - the soft and the round. You'll complete an individual sculpture in a day and learn new basketry skills.
Your tutor Abi Thompson has worked and lived in NE Victoria since her art career began in the '70s. She's known for her eclectic range of skills in textiles, soft sculpture, and painting. These have led her to experiment with recycled materials and combinations of disciplines, from wild hats to wearable art, from embroidery to drawing. Abi believes it's all about skills.
