This webinar can be used towards continuing professional development (CPD) points*

Overview

This presentation will provide an overview of the development of the National Remediation Framework (NRF), for which 24 draft guideline documents have been completed. These draft guidelines include:

  1. Specific remediation technologies (13 guidelines and an overview) (new!)
  2. Cost-Benefit and Sustainability Analysis (CBSA)
  3. Site Specific Remediation Objectives (new!)
  4. Regulatory considerations (new!)
  5. Stakeholder engagement
  6. Documentation and record-keeping
  7. Health and Safety
  8. Post-remediation institutional controls
  9. Post-remediation validation and closure
  10. Post-remediation auditing
  11. Post-remediation long term monitoring

Consultation with governments, industry and the public on most of the draft guidelines has been completed. Further consultation will occur when a complete, consolidated, package of all the guidelines has been developed.

This presentation will also provide specific information on the draft guidelines on establishing Site-Specific Remediation Objectives and on Cost-Benefit and Sustainability Analysis. The new ISO document ISO 18504:2017 Soil Quality – Sustainable remediation overlaps with the NRF and a comparison table will be circulated as a handout following the presentation.

Objectives

  • To provide an update on the development of the NRF
  • To provide insights into the guidelines dealing with setting remediation objectives and sustainability analysis
  • To indicate relationships between relevant NRF Guidelines and the ISO 18504:2017 Soil Quality – Sustainable remediation document
