Description

THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ALUMNI OF THE CRANLANA PROGRAMME ONLY

Democratic structures and institutions underpin much of the western world and democratic ideals are championed throughout. Democracy is seen by many as the form of government best placed to deliver freedom and prosperity. But it is fragile and its demands are high. This programme explores the requirements democracy places on us as citizens and challenges what it means to be a moral agent in society.

The Democracy & Society Symposium offers Cranlana alumni the opportunity to continue their engagement with the concept of a good society. Through the familiar format of shared inquiry, alumni will grapple with new texts and ideas that question our understanding of one of the fundamental forces that shapes the way we live.

As with all Cranlana programmes the symposium is limited to 20 participants. Register now to secure you place.

Other symposia in the series:

Cranlana Advanced: Violence & Society, 14–15 October 2016
