Description

DESCRIPTION

We are proud pioneers of the original "10 points in one day" CPD programme for experienced migration practitioners. Our programme delivers a high-quality and advanced CPD experience that offers maximum points in the minimum time.

Our Presenters

The programme will be led and facilitated by our Accredited Immigration Law Specialists Peter Papadopoulos and Kathryn Viegas. Peter and Kathryn have extensive experience conducting advanced CPD for migration agents and lawyers through their previous contributions to CPD run by Migration Practice Essentials (MPE), Law Council of Australia (LCA), The College of Law, Migration Institute of Australia (MIA), Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) and Immigration Advice & Rights Centre (IARC). Peter and Kathryn are excited about sharing the latest developments in migration law and policy along with practical tips to get those more complex cases over the line.

Contents of the CPD Express course programme

The final contents of our last CPD Express programme in 2017 will be announced nearer to the date of delivery but attendees can rest assured that Peter and Kathryn will summarise the latest developments in migration law and policy as well as recent significant decisions from the AAT and the courts. Among other things, we expect that Peter and Kathryn will cover the following topics:

  • 457 visa changes update – lawfulness of the caveat system; dealing with caveat-affected applications; drafting submissions to address the new caveat requirements; integrity and monitoring changes scheduled for December; the TSS visa due in March 2018 – proposed requirements; labour agreements; update on relevant AAT decisions; Skilling Australians Fund levy and interaction with existing training benchmarks and the sponsor's obligation to provide training; the prospect of levy exemptions, variations and refunds

  • ENS / RSMS visa changes – changes to age and English language requirements and exemptions - what will be phased out and when; strategies to get cases through before the March 2018 changes take effect; the proposed March 2018 framework and the likely impact on pipeline applications

  • Citizenship reform update

  • Temporary Sponsored Parent visa proposed to take effect in November 2017

  • Partner visa update – processing times; insights into DIBP's plans to deal with the current caseload; assessment of family visa sponsors; proposed introduction of the requirement for sponsorship approval before lodging a partner visa application
  • End of dual regulation of legal practitioners; changes to the CPD framework
  • Sustainable business development – re-thinking client selection; valuing eligibility assessments; distinguishing between advisory services and application processing; re-orienting marketing strategies; building key relationships
