Conversations with Northern Seniors
The COTA SA Conversations with Northern Seniors commenced in October 2015 with an initial forum around Housing. This collaborative initiative between the City of Salisbury, Northern Collaborative Project (NCP) and COTA SA aimed to deliver bi-monthly 'conversations' with northern seniors that would:
- Provide specialist information on a range of topics that directly impacted on the lives of older people living in the northern region
- Engage and build the knowledge of a broader group of community members, enhancing participation in their local community
- Provide a forum for COTA SA and the City of Salisbury to hear directly from older people their experiences and perspectives on the issues raised
- Enable COTA SA and the City of Salisbury to utilise the information and views of older people to inform policy direction and the work undertaken by these organisations
The NCP Community Ambassadors were pivotal initially in supporting older people to engage and speak out, supporting them to have a voice around issues that were important in their lives.
Twenty-two COTA Conversations have been held since October 2015 engaging people around a range of topics including Road Safety & Older Drivers, Ageism, Creative Ageing, Aged Care, Digital Technology, Active Ageing and Wellbeing and Planning Ahead.
