Corporate Snakes and Career Ladders® workshop

We know, from the latest neuroscience research, that people learn best when they are having fun and making connections, so our first IABC Canberra workshop for the year is designed to make learning stick.

The Corporate Snakes and Career Ladders® workshop is a simulation-based training activity that helps participants navigate the ambiguity between theory and practice as they encounter real-world scenarios.

When you play, you will take on the role of Carmen Spinoza, Communications Director of a fictional world-class multinational, Globocorp.

As a member of Globocorp’s Executive Team, your goal is to help your team make the right choices.

In this half-day workshop, participants quickly establish teams, debate key issues, and reflect on work challenges through a different perspective.

You will be guided through high-level organisational issues in a safe environment and apply the Global Standard in a business context. Participants explore the strategic thinking skills and actions needed to move beyond functional roles to deliver impact.

What will you take away?

· You will gain a fresh perspective of what it means to be a communications business leader, get insights into your own behaviour, experience a taste of consensus-building under pressure and how you can help your team grow within your organisation’s unique culture.

· Each participant receives practical tools to reflect on their personal advisory and influencing styles, and how to apply insights to collaborate with others.

Who is this for?

Mid-career professionals in the communications, engagement, corporate affairs, marketing or public relation fields who want to test and strengthen their strategic advisory skills and build confidence for engaging with executive leaders. Seasoned professionals or those in career transition may benefit from this as a fun, strategic-thinking refresher.

Following the workshop, participants will be invited to an informal plated networking lunch.

About the facilitator - Zora Artis, GAICD, SCMP, FAMI, CMP

Zora is Australia’s leading Alignment and Communication Strategist, working with executive and senior leaders to unlock value in their organisations, people and brands to drive performance and impact.

Zora is also IABC World Conference Chair and past director of the IABC global executive and APAC regional boards. She holds certifications as a Strategic Communication Management Professional, Certified Practicing Marketer, and company director.

With three decades in business, marketing, communication, and branding, Zora has worked across public, private and non-profit sectors. She has extensive experience with local, state and federal government on a breadth of issues, programs, policy launches, campaigns and crises.
