What’s it all about?
Taking on a management role requires workers to up their game and draw on a new set of skills needed to lead others. This one-day workshop is designed for those in Team Leader, Co-ordinator, Manager, Director, Supervisor and Group Leader type roles.
The workshop offers an introduction to core knowledge and understandings necessary to feel confident and skilled in meeting the needs of your team, your service and your client group. You will walk away with a clearer understanding of who you are as a leader and a selection of practical techniques that you can use back in the workplace.
We will explore:
- Core communication skills for quality leadership
- Leadership styles and role clarity
- Introductory skills in coaching and mentoring staff
- Building effective teams
Presenter Bio – Jan Ungerer
Jan has a wealth of experience working in the human services area, having worked across a range of community, educational and business contexts. She has worked in a variety of roles, including Early Childhood Teacher, Senior Project Officer for National Disability Services, Learning and Development Coordinator, presenter, freelance facilitator, and host of conversations that matter which supports individuals and organisations to engage in meaningful dialogue to lead and promote change.
Currently, Jan has a role within the Health and Community Services Workforce Council as a Workforce Consultant delivering on the organisation’s Inclusive Practice and Leadership development work. Jan’s own practice is informed by the frameworks of Appreciative Inquiry and dialogue based methodologies.
