Description

Copyright, Contracts, and You

This interactive seminar will provide an excellent overview of the underlying legals that the Australian publishing industry is based on. We look at basic copyright law for Authors, standard publishing terms, the ins and outs of a standard publishing contract, how and what to negotiate when dealing with a publisher, some of the sneaky traps to watch out for, and different approaches when dealing with print vs digital contracts vs US or Australian publishers. If you have examples of questionable clauses, feel free to bring them along for some discussion, and join this interactive and open forum on publishing contracts. Come for the knowledge, stay for the bad copyright jokes.
