Event description
Learn why we haven't gone back to the moon and how we are turning science fiction into reality. Then watch a film on the Apollo mission.

About this Event

In 2019, we celebrate 50 years since humans first stepped on the Moon. The question that is often asked is “why haven't we gone back”?

Dr Brad Tucker, astrophysicist at Mt Stromlo Observatory at the ANU, will explain why and show how in the past few decades rapid progress in technology has led to a complete change of our view of space. In the next few decades, this will change even more. Dr Tucker will talk about some of these discoveries, what is the future of humans and the Moon and show how we are now turning science fiction into reality.

Following Dr Brad Tucker's talk watch a film on the Apollo mission and ask questions.

This event is hosted by ACT Parks and Conservation Service and Mt Stromlo Observatory (ANU)

This event is also part of the Canberra and Region Heritage Festival and is a great opportunity to explore the stories connected to our city. To see the full Festival program and find more great events visit www.act.gov.au/heritagefestival.
