Event description

Description

Working from an open-ended group therapy model colour circles uses colour expression as a stimulus to support specific topics for discussion in each session….

The Open Ended Group Therapay seminar series is a flow of three weekly 90-minute sessions where participants choose an image at the start of each session to colour during group discussion focussed on specific question stimulus.

Working with the here-and-now perspective participants are challenged to talk freely about what is going on in their minds, life and experience that contributes to what is happening for them in their relationships (or lack of) today.

Colour Circles are a joint initiative of Shane Warren and Kait Luker

FAQs

What is colour expression?

Colour expression is the use of artistic mediums to help free the brain of facts and figures which tend to make our minds stodgy and boring colouring stimulates creativity freeing us up to talk openly by stopping us from thinking analytically encouraging creativity in both our expression and our cognitive problem solving brain.

What are the advantages of colour expression?

Just 30-secods of colouring can help you distress as it provides you with an opportunity to escape from your busy world and clear your mind to focus on the questions at hand.

It sounds like creative meditation?

Of course, once we start colouring we stimulate alpha waves in the brain, which immediately acts on hormonal levels that contribute to stress relief (and even weight loss). The level of adrenaline in the brain is reduced and the level of dopamine rises, in the same way someone relaxes whilst listening to music or watching a movie.

Something like mindfulness resolution?

Yes, the brain loves repetitive form and a colouring is a non-completive and focused method to help you open up freely and speak honestly about what’s happening for you in that moment.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

This is an 18+ group but there are not age limits to participate in this event beyond the "adults only" rule. We encourage participants to bring a business card to exchange, but ID is not required for registration.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The event is held in a CBD location so transport options vary and car parking is typically a challenge - we encourage particpants to explore public transport options.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Bring yourself, a note book and a pen. Participants packs are provided but hey it's always nice to have your own things with you...

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

The organisers can be contacted through this page or directly by clicking here.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Your ticket can not be transferred for cash but if you can not make it and someone else in your team may like to join the discussion on your behalf, we are happy to accept that person just shoot us a quick note to advise the registration team at the event.

Can I update my registration information?

At any time.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

This is helpful but we have modern technology that means we can accept you without the ticket.

What is the refund policy?

The ticket is non-refundable. Unless the event is cancelled by the hosts. (We do accept that things happen in peoples lives so do talk to us if you need to amend your ticket...)

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Sure if you can not make the event and give the ticket to another member of your team - that is cool - we ask to help with the registration process shoot us an email confirming this arrangement.
