Description

Episode 10 - Aaron Davis

If Cool Room had a sister party it would be LA’s Acid Camp, a monthly day dream come true in sun-drenched Los Angeles. Starting out as daytime open air party, Acid Camp has evolved to multitude of times and places, a podcast series, an iconic t-shirt run, a record label and has become a key part of the thriving LA underground. For Episode 10 we’ve brought Mr Acid himself, Aaron Davis to Melbourne for a special performance at Cool Room, to join us in searching for paradise on the dancefloor.

Aaron Davis (Acid Camp / USA)

https://soundcloud.com/acidcamp

Aaron Davis is a innovator. As the mind behind all things Acid Camp, he has honed in on developing a brand that is heavily rooted in finding musings through music. Whether he is conceptualizing and curating an event or he is doing his thing behind the decks, Aaron’s dedication to music is clear. As a party, Acid Camp have hosted a who’s who of our favourites including Mike Servito, Patrick Russell, Tin Man, Honey Sound System and Dr Rubenstein. With a string of great releases from Simic, Natan H, John Tejada, Jasen Loveland on his label, the Acid Camp party gospel continues to spread.

A versatile DJ, Aaron Davis moves through late night acid & atmospheric techno to sunrise feel good house & disco and back again leaving you disoriented and wondering how you got there. All the time bringing the same electric and playful energy to his sets as he does to his podcast, label, and parties. As a party organiser, he has a keen understanding of flow and storytelling, weaving moods together to create spaces on the dancefloor. We’re pleased to host Aaron for his only Melbourne show for a 3 hour set at Cool Room.

Millú

https://soundcloud.com/millydavison

Millú is a storyteller with ~deep~ pockets. She’s been honing her craft as a ¿Club D'érange? and Wax’o Paradiso resident and long-time 3RRR presenter. Her sound weaves contemporary starkness with the industrial palette of bygone cold wave eras. An affinity for bass line acidity, 80's synthesizers, esoteric rhythms and haunting vocals inform her sets: dark, chugging journeys; washed with an air of nostalgia.

Her sets are eccentric, led by a distinct ability to saunter between genres and tempos, re-contextualising our perceptions of when and where records should be played. Millú’s deep cache of mysterious dancefloor sounds forgoes conventional genre-standards, creating more an atmosphere than any one sonic style.

Emily Roseman

https://soundcloud.com/emily-roseman

Emily Roseman wants you to find the *funk* in it. From disco to house, ebm to italo, techno and electro she’s been pulling together genres to find a common groove in bars and clubs since her debut at Book Club last year. As Safety coordinator and Cool Room collaborator, she’s been critical in making Cool Room what it is today, championing our infamous safety packs and putting in the time on the dancefloor helping you stay safe and well connected. She knows the party inside out so we can’t wait to see her warm up and bring a whole lot of attitude and her signature groove to the decks.
