Event description

Description

In this creative culinary collaboration, stories and music flavoured with Neda Rahmani’s Persian and Mauritian roots, will combine with the unique aromas of Ethiopian cuisine crafted by restaurateur Saba Alemayoh.

Neda Rahmani was born in Iran to an Iranian father and a Mauritian mother, and grew up in Australia. Neda's passion is music, dance, song and culture and she has been performing in the Melbourne arts scene for many years. Stories, family and sharing food are as important to Neda as her music and dance and this session will draw on elements from her very popular 2014 show Cherry Cherry, a unique performative dining experience produced by A is for Atlas.

Saba Alemayoh was born in 1989 in Sudan to Ethiopian parents. Saba is passionate about East African culture and although she spent her childhood in the Sudanese capital Khartoum until the age of nine, Saba feels powerfully connected to her Ethiopian heritage.Saba relocated to Melbourne with her mother in 1999. Saba’s first business, Saba’s Health Foods, grew from her passion for Ethiopian culture and wholesome grains. As Saba’s sister suffers from coeliac disease, the family had continued to eat the naturally gluten-free cuisine of their homeland.
