Cooking healthy Japanese food
Learn easy-to-make, delicious Japanese dishes perfect for this winter weather. Best of all, we’ll use Tasmanian ingredients grown and/or produced in our pristine environment where possible.
Savour the flavours of different Japanese-style foods such as tea, miso, and seaweeds with your cooking instructor and Mindful Nutrition Practitioner Sam Seghers. Having lived in Japan for 12 years, she loves the food and sharing how easy it can be. With 20 years’ training experience, the session is designed to be fun and interactive.
Learn why these unique ingredients are good for our health from the Chinese Medicine perspective from Sarah George. Sarah is a former Senior Lecturer of Chinese Medicine at Endeavour College of Natural Health and wrote the Chinese Dietetics subject from the acupuncture bachelor degree program. In Japan, Chinese medicine is called Kampo and there are Kampo restaurants offering different dishes for different constitutions and seasons. You’ll learn about the benefits of the fermented foods, the seaweeds, and combinations of ingredients.
For your investment of $45 you get 2 hours of:
-
cooking demonstration of many Japanese-style dishes
-
a delicious afternoon tea banquet,
-
health information on each food we discuss based on Chinese Medicine dietetics,
-
a recipe booklet with Chinese Medicine dietetics information to take home, and
-
