Construction contracts are complicated and frequently contain complex provisions for extension of time, loss and expense and valuation of variations. Associated with those provisions are often requirements for timely notices and claims, usually as a condition precedent to entitlement.

Whether you are the Principal, Contractor or Subcontract, it is equally important for the effective management of a project, as well as the clear establishment of commercial entitlements, that these matters are addressed properly and within the right timescales. There is little doubt that extension of time, loss and expense and variations by far make up the greatest percentage of construction disputes.

With the impact of CoVid-19 affecting construction projects now, and for the foreseeable future, ensuring that contractual entitlements are dealt with effectively is of great importance.
