Event description

Description

The Geography Teachers Association of South Australia is pleased to bring to you Contour Education's Spatial Technologies Workshops for the Geography Classroom

These one-day spatial technologies workshops are designed for Geography teachers looking for 21st century student centred learning in their classroom.

We are pleased to offer you TWO workshops (click here for details of the program for each day).

(Please note participants need to BRING THEIR OWN DEVICES)

WORKSHOP 1: SIMPLE SPATIAL (Beginners skill level)
When: Friday 8th September 2017, 8:30am-3:30pm at Pedare Christian College, Adelaide

Get hands on with spatial technologies and see how they fit into Middle and Senior Geography classrooms. Participants will spend the day exploring simple, practical tools via hands-on activities, including data collection in the field and will be provided with resources to take back to the classroom.

This workshop is aimed at those who are starting out with their use of spatial technologies in the classroom.

WORKSHOP 2: THE NEXT STEP (Intermediate skills)
When: Saturday 9th September 2017, 8:30am-3:30pm at Pedare Christian College, Adelaide

This workshop will provide the next step for teachers who are already using spatial technologies in the classroom. In particular, we will look at the use of Google Fusion Tables to create choropleth and heat maps in Google Maps, as well as importing data files into Google Earth. The workshop will also take a closer look at how to source, clean and import data into Google Maps from any source.

This workshop is best suited for teachers who have used spatial technologies in the classroom, and who are looking to take the next steps beyond simple applications in Google Maps.

COST: $250 per person, $200 per person for multiple registrations from one school.
Note we are not registered for GST.

Morning tea and Lunch is provided.
