Contemplative Prayer using Visio Divina
Overview
Visio Divina (Latin for “divine or sacred seeing”) is an ancient form of contemplative prayer in which we allow our heart and imagination to engage an image to see what God might have to say to us. Throughout scripture we see the use of symbols, visions, dreams and metaphors as God draws attention, communicates and reveals. As with any spiritual practice it is a time to slow down, be still, and trust in the loving gaze of God as he moves and leads.
This session is suitable for those familiar with contemplative prayer / visio divina as well as those who are new to, or exploring contemplative practice.
The session will begin with a time together where we will settle into the quiet with some reflective music. This will be followed by 30-40 minutes on your own to explore the practice of visio divina with a passage of scripture. To finish, we will come back together as a group to share what we have noticed during our time of reflection.
The session will be conducted via Zoom.
