Event description

Description

An initiative of the Ageing, Disability, Mental Health Collaborative Panel, the Western Melbourne Cross-Sector Community of Practice (the CoP) is a network of health, community and disability service providers and advocates, delivering supports to clients in the western Melbourne metropolitan areas. The CoP’s purpose is to assist organisations to develop sustainable, consumer-driven services, collaboratively identify and respond to the emerging challenges and opportunities of the NDIS, Aged Care and Mental Health reforms and facilitate cross-sector relationships.

This forum will bring together representatives from a diversity of sectors to build their understanding of consumer choice and control in practice, by sharing and learning from each other. The forum will:

  • Focus on the practical aspects of consumer choice and control
  • Provide an opportunity for participants to explore ideas and how to apply theory into practice through discussion with each other
  • Showcase good-practice examples of work undertaken by service providers and consumers to build consumer choice and control in Melbourne’s west

Through the forum, participants will:

  • Understand how to apply the theory of consumer choice and control in practice
  • Understand the different levels of consumer participation
  • Better understand the benefits of consumer choice and control
  • Better understand the challenges that may arise.
