Connected & Confident Children: build resilience through everyday routines!
Overview
Please join us, as we explore Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP), an evidence-based approach, that guides and euqips children to learn how to overcome challenges in their daily living and learning
This 1 hour LIVE professional development training, for therapists and educators, is presented by Elspeth Froude (PhD), Professor of Occupational Therapy, Australian Catholic University and Certified CO-OP Instructor.(BTW 𝗘𝗹𝘀𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗧𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗼𝗸!!)
Elspeth, who is a very well respected and world-renowned occupational therapist, will be sharing WHAT The Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance Approach™ (CO-OP) is, and HOW you can use it to support the children/students in your care.
It was initially developed to use with children with developmental coordination disorder (DCD), (sometimes known as dyspraxia) and is now best practice for children with DCD. It has also since been shown to provide successful outcomes for children with a range of diagnoses who find motor-based skills difficult to learn or re-learn.
It is a child or client-centred, performance-based therapy approach with the potential to benefit many children who struggle with everyday living tasks like handwriting, dressing, using cutlery, playing musical instruments, playing sport etc.
In follow-up to two hugely successful webinars we have conducted over recent years, which focused primarily on handwriting practice, Elspeth will be including several case studies, highlighting how this approach can be used, in several different diagnostic scenarios, which I am sure you will find beneficial and invaluable, for student use at home, in class or during therapy.
There will be time at the end for Q&A. I encourage you to attend live, to ask your questions directly, of such a knowledgeable, highly experienced clinician and researcher in this field.
