Connect Sydney: Child Safe Training - Expression of Interest

Connect Sydney is an initiative by the City of Sydney which aims to build the capacity of community organisations through the provision of free skills and governance training. It also aims to provide an opportunity for a wide variety of organisations to network and share their experiences.

This innovative one day Child Safe training workshop provides participants with knowledge, skills and evidence-based solutions in how to build a child safe organisation through the implementation of child safe standards. Areas covered in the workshop include:

  • How to develop a culture that is child safe
  • How to design child safe policies and codes of conduct
  • How to implement effective risk management procedures
  • How to implement best practice procedures in child safe recruitment
  • How to respond effectively to disclosures and incidents of abuse

The training content incorporates best practice standards in child protection and expert analysis from recent developments and recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

  • Mandatory reporting legislative requirements
  • How to promote the participation of children and young people in yourorganisation
  • Working With Children Check requirements
  • Best practice findings and recommendations from the Royal Commission

Participants - Who should attend?

This training workshop is designed for front line social and community workers, HR Managers, designated child protection officers, or any individual working in a child related organisation seeking to implement child safe best practices in their organisation.

This session will be delivered by Child Safeguard www.childsafeguard.com.au

Training sessions are limited to 25 participants, so make sure you register your expression of interest early. Places are limited to 2 people per organisation, and priority is given to community organisations that operate within the City of Sydney's local area.

This training will be held in an accessible building. The City aims to deliver inclusive and accessible training sessions so everyone can participate.
