About this event
Connect & Learn is a series of case-based webinars funded by the Department of Health, designed to support AOD clinicians throughout regional and metropolitan Victoria. Webinars are presented by experienced clinicians currently working in the AOD sector and facilitated by Turning Point.
"Sober in the Country" presented by Shanna Whan, CEO, creator and founder of Sober in the Country and 2022 Winner of ''Australian of the Year'' Local Hero award
In February 2015, Shanna Whan had her last alcoholic drink after many years of problematic alcohol consumption. Founder of the not-for-profit organisation “Sober in the Country”, Shana now devotes her time to alcohol awareness and education, advocating for cultural change, highlighting bush stories and experiences, and connecting rural and remote Australians who have a shared wish to cut back or quit drinking.
Shanna will present for Connect and Learn to talk about Sober in the Country and why lived-experience advocates are imperative to recovery. This presentation aims to be as interactive as possible, with Shanna responding to your questions in Q&A.
Please forward this link to peers or clients who are interested in recovery topics and hearing from people with a lived experience.
