Event description

Description

When we conduct analyses and interpret the results, there are some important concepts we should always be conscious of. From consultations at Stats Central, we've found three common statistical concepts that come up are:

  • The connection between overlapping confidence intervals of group means and statistically significant differences between the means
  • Confounding and collinearity
  • Claiming causality from the analysis

This talk will delve into each of these issues.

The talk will be about 30 minutes long and will be followed by (free!) afternoon tea and time for discussion. Please register by Wednesday 8th November, 12:00 pm, so we can cater properly for afternoon tea!

Speaker: Zhixin Liu, Stats Central, UNSW
