Description

SIR ZELMAN COWEN CENTRE PUBLIC LECTURE

'Compulsory ODR: The Canadian Experience'

Shannon Salter, Chair of the Civil Resolution Tribunal in British Columbia, Canada

The Civil Resolution Tribunal is Canada’s first online tribunal and, currently, the only online dispute resolution (ODR) system in the world that is fully integrated into the justice system.

The Tribunal is a transformational access to justice initiative which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Established under legislation in 2012, the Civil Resolution Tribunal uses technology and alternative dispute resolution to cut cost, delay and complexity for users of British Columbia's justice system.

The Tribunal currently deals with small claims disputes under $5,000, strata property (condominium) disputes, and types of motor vehicle accident claims.

Learn more about the Tribunal at: civilresolutionbc.ca.

Tickets are strictly limited - register now to secure your place at this free event.

Shannon Salter is the foundation Chair of the Civil Resolution Tribunal in British Columbia, Canada and has shared the Canadian experience with jurisdictions across the world.

This event will also include the formal opening of the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre's 'ODR: The State of the Art' symposium, which continues the following day on 22 November 2018 (an invitation only event for policy makers, judicial officers, court and tribunal administrators and complaint handling agencies).

Find out more about the symposium at www.odrmelbourne.com.au.
