Description

*NEW TRAINING COURSE FOR VOLUNTEER MANAGERS*

(Offered in partnership by Southern Volunteering SA Inc and Northern Volunteering SA Inc)

Compassion Fatigue Awareness Training for Volunteer Managers

Compassion fatigue has been described as the “cost of caring”. It is a natural consequence of stress resulting from caring and helping people or animals who are traumatised or suffering. Compassion fatigue is a health, welfare and safety issue and a psychological hazard, regardless of whether you are a volunteer manager or volunteer.

To reduce the risk of compassion fatigue at the individual and organisational level, it is imperative that volunteer managers are aware of the signs and symptoms to run an effective volunteer program that values clients, volunteers and themselves alike.

The aim of this workshop is for you to leave the session with a greater understanding of:

-The nature of Compassion Fatigue and how to recognise the signs

- Signs and symptoms from an individual and organisational perspective

- Assessing your own levels of compassion fatigue

- Recognising early warning signs

- The four-fold focus of organisational responsibility

- What managers can do to decrease the risk of compassion fatigue

- The importance of self-care strategies to promote resilience and wellbeing

Facilitated by: Anastasia Goussios, Psychologist, Director and Founder of Compassion Fatigue Australia
