About this event
Glen Innes Severn Council is interested to explore how Community Wealth Building could inform and support the region’s strategic and operational plans.
To do this, we are inviting you to join us to learn more about community wealth building and discuss the benefits and opportunities it offers our region.
Community Wealth Building is a people-centred approach to local economic development and community development. Community wealth building draws on democratic principles to deliver prosperity, wellbeing, self-reliance and resilience for local communities and places. It is built on locally rooted and broadly held ownership. It stops wealth flowing out of our communities, towns and cities, and instead places control and wealth into the hands of local people, communities, businesses and organisation’s.
This is achieved via policies, strategies and local action that enable government, industry, business and community to:
• Empower local people and places
• Increase local asset ownership and prosperity
• Make financial power work for local places
• Anchor jobs and opportunities to place
• Build self-reliance and local economic resilience
• Create systems, institutions, enterprises, infrastructure and cultures that reinforce community ownership, leadership and wealth building.
The council has engaged Ethical Fields to:
(a) inform and inspire key regional partners in community wealth building and
(b) gather local knowledge and perspectives and
(c) provide advice, insights and facilitation on developing a community wealth building plan.
Please join us for the first part of this process via an online information and capability building session.
