Background information:

The Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) has been updated. Supporting the EP&A Act’s objective to increase opportunities for community participation in the planning system is a new measure requiring all public authorities that have planning functions under the EP&A Act, including councils, to develop a community participation plan (CPP) by the end of 2019.

Our CPP sets out in one document how and when the community can participate in the planning functions the Department undertakes in line with the new requirements in the EP&A Act. Its purpose is to make clearer to the community how and when they can have a say on the Department’s planning functions.
