Description

JOIN US IN A COMMUNITY FORUM ABOUT STRATEGIES FOR AUSTRALIAN DRUG REFORM AND THE LAUNCH OF A NEW GROUP WORKING TOWARDS DRUG REFORM.

Guest speakers:

Alex Wodak: Leading campaigner for drug law reform in Australia, and internationally.

Emma Maiden: Head of Advocacy at Uniting and operator of the Kings Cross Medically Supervised Injecting Centre (MSIC). Emma Maiden and the Kings Cross MSIC have led the discussion of harm minimisation in Australia and hope to use this experience to implement a pill testing trial.

For decades, medicos have been telling us that the law is a clumsy tool for managing recreational drug use.

Liberal Governments in Australia have failed to listen, refusing even obvious changes like pill testing at music festivals.

In other parts of the world, progressive governments have listened. They are saving people’s lives, reducing crime and freeing up legal, policing and healthcare services. Why can't Australia do the same?

This is an opportunity to find out the most current views on drug issues, and join with others in helping push for change.
