The community engagement workshop is an exciting opportunity for community members to come together and learn more about what is happening in Golden Plains. This includes activities, presentations, facilitated discussions and a catered dinner.

Can I join this workshop online?

Accepted Answer

We are inviting community members to join us in-person for this workshop event at three locations: Bannockburn/Smythesdale on 22/3 or Dereel on 27/3 for an engaging event. Council can provide transport, please contact us on 5220 7111 or enquiries@gplains.vic.gov.au.

When is the cut off for tickets?

Please register for tickets by Monday 25 March at the latest. Given this event is catered, we appreciate your earliest notice of attendance.

How can we contribute to the Vision?

Accepted Answer

You can contribute by filling in the Have Your Say survey on our webpage, having a chat with Councillors and staff who are promoting the Community Vision 2040 Refresh throughout January-March 2024, and by attending our Community Engagement Workshop on Friday 22 March 2024.

Where can I access the Vision?

You can view a copy of the current Community Vision 2040 by visiting the Have Your Say webpage on Council's website. Paper copies will be available at Council’s Customer Hubs: Golden Plains Civic Centre at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn and The Well at 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.

Why are we updating the 2040 Community Vision?

We are asking the community if the Vision still reflects their aspirations to ensure we are still working towards the right goals that shape the future of Golden Plains Shire. In June of 2023, Council also passed a notice of motion decision to update the Community Vision 2040.

Question 7

When is the Community Vision 2040 going to be updated?

Accepted Answer

We will be checking in with the community on the vision strategy through attending a variety of community events, hosting a community engagement workshop, before presenting the updated Community Vision 2040 document for endorsement to Council in late 2024.

What happens next?

Accepted Answer

Once the consultation period ends on Friday 29 March 2024, Council will prepare a What We Heard report summarising the feedback provided by the community in mid-2024. You can find more information about this including a timeline of the project on the Have Your Say webpage.
