RICS is pleased to invite you to the Property Performance series, taking place in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, this February.

The event series brings together local experts, to explore the results of the Q4 2017 RICS Commercial Property Monitor, over breakfast.

This quarterly sentiment survey investigates conditions in the commercial property markets across the globe and, in particular, provides great contextual insight into New Zealand’s performance within the Asia Pacific.

Hear from Sean Ellison, RICS Senior Economist for the Asia Pacific Region (based in Singapore) who will present the report and examine the outlook for New Zealand markets.

This presentation will be followed by a panel of local experts who, together with Sean, will dive deeper into the report

Moderator Sean Ellison, Senior Economist, Asia Pacific, RICS

Sean Ellison is responsible for the RICS Economics team’s research into the Asia Pacific property sector, identifying market risks to the sector and analysing economic events and their effects on real estate.

Sean manages the regional surveys and proprietary data, including the Global Commercial Property Monitor, a market-leading report on commercial property occupier and investor sentiment from property professionals worldwide. In addition to contributing economic insights, market intelligence and analyses to RICS business strategy, his work also contributes to RICS advisory capacity to international policy organisations.

Ish Fraser, Partner - Wellington, KensingtonSwan

Ish is a partner in our property team. He helps businesses with their commercial property deals, particularly sales, purchases and leases.

Ish specialises in commercial leasing, and buying and selling office buildings. Since the Christchurch earthquakes he has become an expert in the property, seismic and insurance issues associated with earthquakes and other natural disasters. He helps clients resolve these issues and advises them on how to protect themselves in the event of a future disaster.

Ish advises a wide range of clients, including property investors, shopping centre owners, and commercial tenants, as well as intermediaries such as international property consultancies. He also advises government agencies and public entities.

Ish has a deep understanding of the commercial property market, and can help steer you through the process of negotiating leases or buying and selling commercial property. He can help you understand your rights and obligations under existing leases, particularly in relation to rent reviews and lease renewals. He can also advise you on what you are entitled to if a building is damaged and what your obligations are when a lease ends – and he can help you resolve any disputes that may arise.

Simon Cunliffe, Chartered Surveyor & Registered Building Surveyor, MaynardMarks

Simon regularly provides advice to clients of wide ranging property ownership, as well as other interested parties, whether that be related to defects, repairs and maintenance requirements, to assist in lease negotiations or in a dispute resolution process. In the UK Simon was an experienced valuer and property adviser, providing valuations, due diligence reports, and feasibility studies.

Simon’s previous New Zealand employment experience includes working for a large New Zealand Building Consent Authority/Council in the Building Control Department where he gained a sound understanding of the New Zealand Building Act, Building Code and Council processes and procedures, as well as knowledge of local building materials and techniques through the processing and issuing of Building Consents.

Simon is a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a Member of the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors (NZIBS).
