"Colours of Our Community" by photographer Markham Lane is a ten-year retrospective of works celebrating equality and the diversity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer and Intersex community in Sydney, Australia, from 2006-2016.
Kicking off with an exclusive Launch event on Tuesday 21st February 2017 at 6pm, "Colours of Our Community" aims to preserve our visual stories with individual portraits, lifestyle artworks and photo-journalistic coverage of historic LGBTQI-news, current affairs and community events.
Held at the Ovolo Hotel, Woolloomooloo Wharf, the Launch event will showcase the Public collection as well as a one-night-only showing of the artists' Private collection.
Art collectors, community dignitaries, friends and supporters are invited to purchase tickets to attend the Launch night and bid for Auction items, (Artworks and a collection of Limited Edition Books) with 20% of all sales above reserve benefiting SGLMG / Mardi Gras Arts. Purchased items and regular donations can also be bequeathed to the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives.
The FREE Public exhibition will continue daily, 8am to 11pm from Wednesday 22nd February through to Sunday 5th March 2017. Tickets can be downloaded but are not required to see the exhibition being held in the public areas of the Ovolo Hotel foyer, lounge area and cafe.
Photographer Markham Lane has been an active community member since coming out in 1989 and an official photographer for SGLMG since 2013.
"Colours of Our Community" is an official Premier Event of the 2017 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Proof of Age ID will be required to purchase alcohol.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Public transportation is available to and from the venue.
There are no options for off-street parking available at the venue.
What can I bring into the event?
Ovolo Hotel, Woolloomooloo Wharf is a licensed venue with public bar services beginning at 5pm daily. The Bakery Cafe in their public foyer and Lo Lounge is open for light refreshments daily from 8am.

What's the refund policy?
All sales are final.
There is a no-refund policy for all ticket sales to the Launch event.
There is a no-refund policy for all Artwork sales. All Artworks are sold as displayed. Any sold Artworks not collected at the conclusion of the Public exhibition period (before 12pm Midday Monday 6th March 2017) or the Private exhibition period (before Midnight Tuesday 21st February 2017), will be forfeited and donated to the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives.
There is a no-refund policy for all Book sales. All Books will be delivered to the address of the purchaser two months after the Launch event.
