This Colour Fundamentals workshop gives you foundational knowledge about colour in an accessible, interactive, fun and practical way. You'll leave the workshop with the confidence to work with colour from an informed perspective.

In this three-hour workshop, practical exercises are blended with colour theory information. Participants gain valuable insight into the ways in which colour can be used in design and the built environment.  

A detailed workbook is included and this features templates that allow you to explore and experiment with colour theory and colour application skills.

3 Formal CPD points for architects and designers.

The content of this workshop is linked to the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) National Standard of Competency for Architects (2015 edition) and addresses the unit of competency of ‘Design’ and the specific elements of ‘Pre-Design’ and ‘Conceptual Design’. Performance criteria: 2.6 Preparation and analysis of project development options in response to project brief. 3.1 Design response integrates the objectives of brief, user intent and built purpose.  

Learning objectives:

1) Examine and identify colour attributes, categories of colour and basic colour theory constructs including primary colour, secondary colour and tertiary colour;

2) Explore and experiment with four colour application strategies common in design and the built environment: Monochromatic colour, monotone, analogous colour and seven types of contrasting colour;

3) Build a resource that collates and illustrates colour attributes, key colour constructs, theories of contrast and four colour application strategies relevant to design and the built environment.
