“I do not have all the answers because no one does. But in search for answers, I’ve completed a bachelor’s degree in medicine with honours to kick off my career. I did my internship and resident years in Tassie and Darwin 1992 to 1994. I trained in surgery at Royal Prince Alfred in Sydney. I did a master’s of medicine in clinical epidemiology and a PhD in Surgery (both Sydney Uni). I trained & qualified for 2 fellowships of surgery (the Aussie & then the UK) as well as the membership of ANZ colon & rectal surgical society, also the section of Colon & Rectal Surgery at the Australasian College of Surgeons. I also did 10 years with the Aussie army in the reserves & did stints in Bougainville, PNG & Solomon Islands.. I’ve pretty much worked in ALL states & territories. I treat patients with bowel cancer, polyps, diverticular disease, as well as IBD & sometimes IBS… day in and day out. I also teach surgery at UNSW.”
