Event description

Description

The ARC CoECSS Early Career Scientists and Students workshop will be held on Thursday November 14th 2013 in Melbourne at the Bureau of Meteorology Headquarters. It will start with a social event the night before, Wednesday 13th in Melbourne (details TBA).

The workshop aims to help early career researchers in career development and creating collaborations. In the morning a series of presentations on topics including the CoE graduate program, climate modeling support, publishing in high impact journals, and how to present your work to media and prepare for climate skeptics will provide an introduction. In the afternoon participants will split into three smaller groups and focus on how to present your research in either media, written publication or oral presentations. Every participant will present his/her research to the others according to the topic of the breakout session and will be provided with feedback from peers and invited experts. We will finish the day with a question and answer panel discussion on early career research and student pathways.
