About the course
With the Digital Literacy Curriculum and plans to integrate Coding into the NSW Science Curriculum, it is important to learn how to teach coding and how to integrate it into our teaching.
Learn about coding and computer programming with fun, easy-to-use iPad apps that encourage critical thinking skills and make learning fun and relevant for students from K-6. This course introduces coding concepts and pedagagogy for teachers of K-6 school students using easy-to-use iPad apps that develop programming and coding skills with activities that include problem-solving, sequencing, designing, mathematical and computational skills and simple code presented in fun and interactive ways that engage young students.
Will also include one session introducing robotics and resources for use in education. Experience robotics in action with Sphero SPRK, Dash and Dot, Lego WeDo 2.0, Lego Mindstorms EV3 and more, and imagine the fun and learning it could bring to your classroom!

Learn how to use iPads as an effective teaching and learning tool in the 21st Century classroom with creative tasks, collaboration and higher-order thinking linked to many curriculum areas, but with a strong emphasis on STEM subjects.
Bring an iPad to get the most out of the day in a hands-on environment. You may also like to bring a laptop for web-based resources.

What should I bring to the event?
iPad preferably with the most recent IOS update and the suggested apps.
What apps will I need?
You will be sent an email prior to the course with a list of suggested apps that will be used on the day, most of which will be FREE apps.
I attended the 2 hour coding course, will it be the same?
While there will be some double-up in the introduction and some apps, the full day course goes into much more detail, includes additional apps and resources, scope and sequence and lesson plans and more time to experiment yourself. It will be a good opportunity to reinforce knowledge learned and develop more advanced skills. There will also be more time on robotics and the opportunity to use it yourself.
There are no refunds for tickets, but a ticket for a subsequent course will be offered.
