CoderDojo Melbourne @ Hawthorn Community House
Remember the following guidelines are very important!
Bring a Parent (Very important!). If you are 12 or under, your parent must stay with you during the sesssion. Make sure you bring your own laptop (please make sure it works well) and charger along to this event. CoderDojo is completely volunteer driven and although we'd love to have spare devices we don't currently.
I am confused on what sort of languages or what my child is meant to use at CoderDojo sessions?
Please check this page link to CoderDojo Kata: http://kata.coderdojo.com/wiki/Home_Page and these are some of the resources that we use at CoderDojo sessions! If your child is beyond beginner level, we can discuss this on the day. We have technical mentors for this reason!
What can I bring to the event related to coding if I have one? Parent mentors as well encouraged to bring these along!
- Raspberry Pi device (Any welcome) and booklet how to use this
- Minecraft Account purchased ($19)
- CoderDojo: Build a First Website Book ($20 from Readings Hawthorn).
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Hawthorn Community House is easily accessible by tram and train from Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.
Make sure to take the train from Richmond going on the Alamein, Belgrave or Lilydale lines (this is easier because less time spent than on tram!). You will need to walk five minutes up from Glenferrie Road until the street after the Hawthorn Hotel becomes Henry St. There is car parking facility nearby on Henry Street if you wish to park your car for a couple of hours for about $10.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes, especially if someone drops out this is even better news as we guarantee a secured place for another ninja.
