CoderDojo Brisbane: Holland Park Mentors, Term 4, 2016
Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 12:30 PM - Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 2:30 PM (AEST)
CoderDojo Brisbane Term 4, 2016 Holland Park Program!
CoderDojo Brisbane is currently recruiting for Term 4 mentors! Are you passionate about coding, computers and technology? Want to contribute to a highly successful community-led program and help teach the next generation of coders and developers? Why not become a volunteer mentor for the CoderDojo Brisbane program?!
Mentors should ideally possess:
- The willingness to create and deliver content passionately and interactively.
- A desire to encourage kids to take an interest in coding.
- An ability to think on your feet – kids can ask some very interesting and challenging questions.
Anyone can be a mentor. You don’t need to be an expert in coding – all you need is a passion for helping kids learn. If you have an interest in coding, technology and programming, that’s a bonus! CoderDojo is a coding club, there is no set curriculum and each location operates slightly differently to the next depending on the experience, skills and interests of the mentors.

When: Every Saturday from 22 October- Saturday 26 November
Location: Holland Park Library, 81 Seville Road, Holland Park, 4121
Register for one or more Saturdays over a block of six weeks. Please note that every session requires a minimum of eight mentors to be present – if you commit to mentoring in a particular week, please attend. Mentors will nominate their availability when they register however, please also advise the lead mentor if you will be missing any sessions.
If you are brand new to mentoring, we highly recommend attending the Week 1 session. This session provides a great insight into what CoderDojo Brisbane is all about. We will put you in touch with your lead mentor prior to the first session in case you have any specific questions.
We welcome all mentors to demonstrate a particular program or activity throughout the term. The content you teach is entirely up to you – please liaise with the lead mentor at your location if you are interested in doing a demonstration.
All mentors are welcome to bring their children along to all CoderDojo sessions provided they are aged 7-17. Please email Kelly at email@example.com to reserve a place.
Please note: all session times are subject to mentor registrations. Any changes to session times will be updated prior to ninja registrations opening on 26 September. Mentors will be notified of any relevant changes via email.
